The text and photo printing of the Canon imageCLASS MF8170C Multifunction Printer is unfortunately only adequate. With 5 separate ink cartridges, this printer reaches a maximum resolution of 2400 x 600 DPI, and scans at a resolution of 1200 x 2400 DPI. The Canon imageCLASS MF8170C Multifunction Printer prints black and white text at a speed of 16 pages per minute, and color documents at a speed of 4 pages per minute. But this printer lacks duplex printing, and an on/off switch, which means that as an energy saver machine, it will always be on and producing low hums of noise. The Canon imageCLASS MF8170C Multifunction Printer also takes a long time to warm up, and comes with only 24 MB of Ram memory, which may not be enough storage capacity for some users.
